10 Useful 3D Prints for your Home – So! You got yourselves a 3D printer. Yay! Welcome to our world. Okaay, we\u2019re writing this blog from the assumption that you\u2019ve been playing around with it and you know it works really well. What\u2019s more you\u2019ve printed all the fun and daft stuff but now you\u2019re looking for some meatier projects \u2013 something you can in fact use. <\/em>Not change the world -y\u2019know \u2013 but at least be useful. Yeah? Does that sound like you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or, if the 3D printer is gathering dust along with the bread maker and the Soda Stream you might want to scroll on by. Or you might not? ‘Cos what we\u2019ve got here is a list of 10 useful 3D printed projects of stuff you can use. And \u2013 we can\u2019t ignore that we\u2019re in the middle of the Covid19 pandemic and in lockd<\/strong>own.<\/a> Timely inspiration we think.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 So, let\u2019s get going and introduce you to 10 useful 3D prints for your home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. A headphone holder<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

From Cults 3D comes this fab, funky headphone holder with play-louder coloured inserts. Oooooh. As a particular porcine personality from an animated kids\u2019 show, is rather fond of exclaiming. (Peppa Pig for the uninitiated). The description from Cults 3D:<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018<\/strong>This is a dual color remix of Makerbot’s awesome headphone stand. We printed ours on a Type A Series 1 with a Palette! Remix from Headphone Stand by Makerbot 3D file format: STL’<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We reckon it’s hard to resist<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2<\/strong>. An earphone organiser<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

From our old friends at Thingiverse, from the designer muxx64<\/a>,<\/strong> comes a bit of 3D printed whimsy in the form of an earphone organiser. Choose from an alien or a cool dude wearing shades. We definitely think this is a \u2018he\u2019.

We\u2019ve downloaded him. In one colour he\u2019ll take a little over 2 hours to print \u2013 50% infill. No excuse now to have tangled earphones with this pocket-pal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. A phone holder<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We know. Not what you\u2019d call Avant Garde is it? Indeed, the 3D stores are a phone-holder-file treasure trove, so you\u2019ll have lots to choose from.

This iPhone X stand from Thingiverse (them again) is a fave at SED HQ.  That glossy red is uber cool don\u2019t y\u2019think? It does it for us for sure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Vase<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In the first instance we designed this pink and perky vase as a business card holder. In Eryone rainbow filament it took around 3 hours to print.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For an alternative, how about this other-worldly Groot vase created by Tom Davis via Myminifactory<\/strong>.<\/a> Or, as he calls it, \u2018Gardens of the Galaxy\u2019. We like what we did there.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Such has been the success of this item that a Chinese company have copied the design and are now producing it via plastic mould. On dodgy copyright grounds we think?!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Halfway there….<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

5. Halfway through our pick of the prints and we have a Google Home Mini<\/a><\/strong> stand. If you\u2019ve got a Google mini and you\u2019ve not yet accessorised it with a 3D printed stand .. well \u2026 what are you thinking? This Google mini stand comprises yet another chart-topper from Wesler on Thingiverse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6. Shopping trolley token<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At number 6 we have the ubiquitous shopping trolley token<\/strong>. Now if you\u2019re a regular at business expos or supporter of charities you might well have enough of these to make your keyring look like it locks Fort Knox. If you don\u2019t \u2013 here\u2019s a nifty printer project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to Pinshape you need never fumble for that \u00a31 coin again.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

7. Toothbrush & Toothpaste Holder<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

You can\u2019t yet print a new set of teeth, though that’s surely only a matter of time? But you CAN print yourself a toothbrush and toothpaste holder<\/strong> to keep tidy the stuff you need to keep bright your existing pearly whites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the utilitarian style of this one from YouMagine<\/strong><\/a> sets your teeth on edge, fear not. For you can print this in marble, hot pink or even a glittery gold filament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Toothpaste<\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

It measures 15.4cm x 6.5 cm tall. On 25% infill it took around 7 hours to print.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8. Floating Clock<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Tick tock, tick tock. We\u2019re now almost at the end of our list of 10 useful 3D printed projects but first we have a clock. Not any old clock though. This project from CG Trader<\/strong>s<\/a> is a floating, geared clock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here you buy the STL for $4 and create the clock on your own 3D printer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9. Coat Hooks<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t yawn! These not any old hook. SED HQ first saw these last year and have been wanting to print them ever since. Aside from the fact that they\u2019re printed in ABS, which needs a much higher nozzle temperature, we never have a printer free!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Papagolf at Thingiverse created the Jack Russel rear-end hook<\/strong>.<\/a> Sure to get your tail wagging with joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10. Funky Doorstop<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

And our entry at No 10, print pickers (not that there was ever any order of preference) is \u2026 drumroll \u2026. a doorstop<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This one is Star Wars themed and has a diddy Yoda on the thick end of the wedge. \u2018The door hold back I will\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re not one bit sure about the Disney licensing but hey. It\u2019s \u00a32.09 for the STL, from Cults3D.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
